In my recent studies, two quotes jumped off the pages at me.
- “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
- “Action is the foundational key to all success.” – Pablo Picasso
These quotes mean a lot to me when I think about my life and future. Habits are formed by what we repeatedly do on a consistent basis, and in order to achieve success, we have to take action. I find that a lot of people get stumped on taking action because they anticipate difficulty. So instead, they form a habit of “thinking themselves out of doing” something before taking action.
People tend to think habits are external things, for example smoking, drinking, obsessive tv watching, gossiping, or exercising. Habits however, first exist in the mind. The more you force the habit upon your mind in thought, the stronger the demonstration of your habit manifests in your present reality. Will you choose a habit of courage, or a habit of fear?
I’ve learned through life lessons choosing courage or fear require the same energy output. So if they are equal, and I have free will to choose, I am going to choose the habitual action of courage. Some of the greatest growths in my life have blossomed in the midst of me being courageous and overcoming my fears.
If fear chose me, I would listen, because fear connected to intuition can offer protection against danger, but be sure to not let your personality interject confusion. How do I know if my spirit’s intuition is introducing “healthy fear”, or is the fear derived from my personality?
The answer is simple. Our spirit is connected to our soul. To say we believe in our soul, we have to be aware that the soul exists. Knowing the soul exists lends wisdom that we have physical and non physical teachers that are always guiding us. That guidance does not involve our ego. When our ego flares, meaning we are focused on self gratification, it is a sign that we could be operating from a fearful perspective.
If my spirit introduces fear into my soul, this fear feels like peace. The answer is a calming reassurance. The spirit may deliver the answer to me through the quiet voice you here when you self calibrate through meditation. Sometimes I find myself saying to self, “ok I hear you.” (acknowledging my guardian angels) The answer may come through another human species being used as a vessel, or it may present through a sign shown to us in a different way. Either way, the answer is always given.
There is not ever a time in my life that the answer was never given for what I ask. Ask and you shall receive does actually work. So where do we go wrong when we ask? Usually it can be narrowed down to a few things.
- I didn’t ask. (My ego)
- I asked, received the answer, but was unaware when the answer was revealed, therefore I was blind.
- I asked, received the answer, but because the answer was not what I wanted to hear, I did it the way I wanted. (My ego)
Our answers are discovered through our actions, and this takes courage. Courage is the universe’s gracious way of allowing us to practice, discover, and build habits in our world. Courage is the catalyst to our evolution. 99% of our personality may be operating in fear, & only 1% operating in courage. That 1% is all you need. It is only that 1% of courage that our universe insures.
